THIS IS THE SEA CHARITY FILM PREMIERE

Come 11 May, this Friday, Singapore will possibly hosts its first-ever paddling film screening.

It all happenend with an email to Justine (www.cackletv.com) last month, the film-maker who has recently released THIS IS THE SEA 3 - the third installment of her highly recommended sea kayaking films. Would she be interested to show her film in a Singapore charity premiere, in aid of waterways conservation?

Justine had graciously and generously agreed.

Since that, Singapore Canoe Federation (www.scf.org.sg) and Waterways Watch Society (www.wws.org.sg) had came out with tremendous support. WWS is an NGO with volunteer members passionate and committed towards the protecting and keeping of our waterways clean and litter free. All proceeds from this film premiere will go towards WWS' water patrols programs.

As paddlers we all want a pleasent and clean place to paddle, and WWS is doing a great job helping to instil a civic sense on waterways usage. They will also speak on Friday night on their programs.
The event will be held at National Stadium, the grand dame of Singapore's sporting history. Slated to be demolished in 2 months, this place holds lots of memories for its fair share of football drama, and emotional National Day parades. As the theatrette is just beside the field, some familes who had bought tickets are excited that their kids have a place to run and play on historic turf.

I thought it will also be great opportunity to meet fellow paddlers at the event. Normally we just passed each other on the water, or at race days. Wouldn't it be nice if we could go further than just make eye contact?
