April
April is one of the months where daylight begins and ends later than other months. At 7am, the light is just beginning to spread. It is then like Summer, where the day ends later. Just that in this tropical location, the day is not longer, just starting later.
In fact, April is not the month where the day starts the latest. February is the month where the sun rises well after 7.15am, and sets past 7.15pm. It means it does not get dark until close to 7.45pm. For lovebirds on Valentine's day, it also means the romantic sunset dinner should be planned around 7pm, and not earlier!
For me, the first 4 months of the year is best for kayaking well into the evening. And the last 4 months of the year is ideal for kayaking in the morning, where the sun rises around 6.45am. This means one can already see and be on the water by 6.15am.
It is an incredible feeling to start the day with the sun and sea. Anyone who has done a dawn paddle will know that at this hour, the wind is still and the sea is a huge expanse of waxy sheet. When light comes, the whole sea shines in the morning.
Our body and mind are also most relaxed in the morning. The smoothness of the sea parted by the softest touch of the paddle. One can almost feel the sea and paddler devouring each other in the morning.
Living close to 1 degree north, devoid of the seasons, the beginning and end of the day are the best time to feel our climatic wonders.
